"If Missiles Begin to Fall...": Experts Weigh In on the High Cost of an India-Pakistan War
In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, emotions are running high across the nation. Amid the rising public sentiment, former diplomat Ajay Bisaria has cautioned against letting public mood dictate decisions of war, particularly with Pakistan. Speaking on an ANI podcast, Bisaria — who served as India’s High Commissioner to Pakistan from 2017 to 2020 — emphasized the importance of strategic planning over emotional response.
“For any operation to be effective, it must be built on three pillars: speed, surprise, and secrecy,” he noted. “The decision on timing must be deliberate and strategic, not driven by the prevailing public mood.”
Bisaria further underlined the importance of India being prepared to manage any potential escalation independently, stressing the need for self-reliance in the event of a broader conflict.
